3 Life Saving Tips for New Parents

So you’ve just joined the parenthood train - it’s a wild ride hey?!

I know the days can feel so long and draining and that literally everything in your life post baby has changed. It can feel like most days you’re just getting by and I get that - trust me I’ve been there!

Here are my top three tips for surviving each day as a new parent! May they bring you some daily ease!

Top 3 Tips for Managing Life As A New Parent

1. Get a food subscription box

I’m nearly certain it is universal knowledge that moms of wee ones have very little time in a day to even eat never mind  prepare meals for themselves. I know from personal experience trust me - there was a period of time where I would end up eating my first meal of the day around 3pm. This was simply because I could not put my baby down and I had nothing prepared to quickly grab other than granola bars. I mean - after all, there is only so much you can make with one hand!

Waiting until 3pm to get any kind of nourishment in my body was less than ideal. I was growing very irritable and exhausted. It is so important that we as mothers stay nurtured while we’re caring for our young babes. Nursing or not we need the energy from good foods to get us through each day.

Getting a food subscription box is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. This way meals are prepped and ready for eating with a quick warm on the stove, in the micro, or a toss in the blender.

I was so excited to collaborate with Revive Super Foods to receive my first box of healthy smoothies! I want to mention that although I have collaborated with Revive, all thoughts are my own.

Revive Super Foods has both smoothie boxes and meal boxes that are able to be custom built with all your preferred choices. I have yet to try their meal box, but I am in love with their smoothie box! There are so many delicious flavours. Each one is ready to blend with a quick dash of added milk and is packed with wholesome healthy ingredients. My favourites are those with added vegan protein for some extra nutrients in my day - because let’s be honest this mama needs it. I’ll often have these smoothies for a quick lunch or an afternoon pick me up!

The box of smoothies was delivered perfectly chilled at my door with some dry ice to keep it cool. I am so eager to try their meal boxes as well! If you are wanting to save yourself the time you know you don’t have as a mama and want to give a subscription box a chance you can use the code mothermadeyou60 at checkout to save 60% on your first box!

2. Prep what you can the night before

Recently Mila has finally been going down at 7-7:30pm and staying asleep! Which means this mama has some time to relax and get a few things done! I have been putting my breakfast, lunch, and snacks together once Mila is sleeping to save me the time I don’t have during the day!

I will mix my breakfast together, my go to is overnight oats! Pro tip: oats are great for breastmilk production if you’re nursing - and just overall good for you if you’re not! I pour my Yumi Organics oats in a jar, mix in some Almond or Oat milk, shake it up, and place it in the fridge so it will be ready for me in the morning. I will also set out what I’ll need for the next day. For example; a blender for my Revive smoothie, a mug and glass, and a kettle.

I will go as far as to fill the kettle with water so I can simply flip it on, cut my lemon for my lemon water and be good to go! I will also prep my lunch in a container - usually salad or grilled veggies with protein these days.

I’ve found this bit of extra effort at night to prepare for the next day have helped me decreased my stress level in the day because I am not worrying about when I will find time to prepare my next meal.

If you would like try these Yumi (I’m so punny) overnight oats, you may use the code mothermadeyou10 at checkout ♡

3. Use a daily tracking app

Motherhood coincides nicely with sleep deprivation, would you agree? I mean, I can barely remember what I did 2 minutes ago let alone when my babes last feed or change was - especially during those newborn months!

Gone are the days where pen and paper was the most effective. Our phones are nearby us pretty well all day - which makes quick inputs into an app so much more effective!

Getting an app that allowed me to quickly track my babies needs has saved a great deal of head pain! I don’t have to waste precious time trying to remember when Mila’s next nap should be, how long her last nap was, and her toileting/diaper changes!

My favourites are the Huckleberry App and Ovia Parenting! Both can be used for free with their basic settings unless you want to upgrade to the fancy stuff! I find it tracks all I need using it with just the basic settings!

I hope you enjoyed these three tips!!

Do you have any others that have helped you through the first couple months of your babes life??

I’d love to hear them, comment them below !
